What’s New in Luminizer – May 2026

Over the past quarter, we’ve taken some great steps forward within Luminizer. From new Long-Term Maintenance Planning (LTMP) functionality to improved security and smarter asset management: all updates are focused on helping you work more efficiently and gain more control over your assets.

Below, we’ll walk you through the most important developments and give you a sneak peek at what’s coming next.

Release notes

Long-Term Maintenance Planning (LTMP) support

To make life a little easier for public lighting managers, we’ve introduced new functionality to support long-term maintenance planning for poles, luminaires, and control cabinets.

It is now possible to configure the expected lifespan of these assets in the asset settings and automatically calculate replacement years in bulk. Of course, replacement years can still be adjusted manually per asset if this better fits your maintenance planning.

This data can also be easily exported to tools such as Microsoft Excel.

Safer and smarter user management

At Luminext, we continuously work on improving platform security and protecting user privacy. This quarter, we introduced several important security improvements to further reduce the risk of account misuse:

Mandatory 2FA

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is now mandatory for all users, adding a strong extra layer of security to every account. Users can choose to receive verification codes via email, SMS, or through an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Inactive user policy

We now actively monitor inactive user accounts and take action when necessary:

  • After 11 months of inactivity, users receive an email notification warning that their account will be deactivated if they do not log in within one month.
  • After 12 months of inactivity, the account is deactivated. The account still exists, but the user can no longer log in. Reactivation is possible through support@luminext.com.
  • After 24 months of inactivity (12 months after deactivation), the account is anonymized. All personal data is anonymized while historical records remain intact, ensuring compliance with GDPR retention requirements.

Please note that anonymized users will no longer appear by name in places such as work order comments.

Faster testing for field engineers with OLC 400

To make work easier for field engineers, we added the ability to send an override directly to an OLC from its work order. This makes testing in the field much faster and more convenient.

This feature is currently available only for Luminext OLC 400 models. Let us know if you would like us to activate this functionality for your field engineers.

New SSO support via OAuth 2.0 / OIDC

Luminext now supports Single Sign-On (SSO) via OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect (OIDC).

This allows Luminizer to be configured so users can log in using their company account (commonly Microsoft accounts). Luminizer already supported SSO through SAML 2.0, and now also supports OIDC-based authentication.

This means users no longer need a separate username and password for Luminizer and can simply log in with the same account they use for email and Microsoft Office.

Automatically assigning dimming schedules to new OLCs

Luminext can now predefine which dimming schedule should automatically be applied when an OLC is installed in or on a luminaire.

As a result:

  • the OLC automatically comes online,
  • is automatically linked to a pole using GPS,
  • and now also automatically receives its dimming schedule.

This further reduces the amount of manual work required during installation or replacement of OLCs.

What’s on the roadmap?

Expanded asset management for other electrical infrastructure assets

Luminizer originally started as a control and management platform for public lighting assets. While Luminizer already supports adding generic assets, these currently offer more limited functionality compared to public lighting assets and use predefined forms. It is also not yet possible to create work orders for generic assets.

We recognize the growing need among our users to use Luminizer more broadly for professional asset management and maintenance beyond public lighting.

Starting from mid-Q2 2026, Luminext will be able to create and configure additional asset types for your environment on request. Examples include:

  • traffic control systems,
  • sensors,
  • EV charging stations,
  • and more.

For each asset type, custom forms and fault types can be configured, enabling comprehensive asset management and maintenance workflows.

Interested in the possibilities? Please contact your account manager or send an email to product@luminext.com.

Tunable white, RGB & Pharos integrations

Luminext already showcased these innovations at industry events, but as always, there are still final improvements to be made when introducing advanced lighting control capabilities.

Luminizer already supports tunable white lighting (adjusting from warm white to cool white). In Q2 2026, Luminext will introduce a new way of configuring dimming schedules, making it much easier to create and manage different types of schedules:

  • Traditional dimming schedules
  • Dimming schedules combined with tunable white
  • Dimming schedules combined with RGB color control
  • Triggering scenarios in Pharos controllers

This will make it easier, for example, to control outdoor-area lighting with color settings that minimize disturbance to wildlife. Luminizer can also be used to trigger Pharos scenarios for architectural lighting applications.
