On 5 October, Luminext took part in Hâck the Hague. During this event, around 120 ethical hackers from the Netherlands and abroad tried to hack the digital systems of the Municipality of The Hague.
Both our Luminizer software (IT) and our smart lighting infrastructure in the field (OT) were tested.
The result? No successful breaches.
For us, it is important not only to demonstrate security on paper, but also to put it to the test in practice. In the end, the key question is simple: can hackers actually get in, and if they do, what can they do?
This is becoming increasingly important. Smart public lighting is now part of a digital network and therefore needs to be properly secured. NIS2 also places increasing emphasis on cybersecurity, risk management and the security of digital systems and networks.

Thanks to the Hâck the Hague organisation and all the ethical hackers who tested our systems. Tests like these help us to keep improving our security.
Smart lighting should not only be smart, but also secure
